Sushant Singh Rajput’s Suicide Encouraged Anurag Kashyap To Reach Out To Abhay Deol; Filmmaker Says, ‘Told Him I Know You Are Upset, But Tell Me You're Okay’
Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has made a name for himself by his blunt and controversial statements. The director never shies away from speaking his mind which has often led him into trouble with many celebrities one of them being Abhay Deol, who he worked with in Dev D (2009). Their past cold war has been making the headlines again as they have started opening up about their experience of working together during their interviews. 

Kashyap had made the headlines, this week, when her had opened up about feeling guilty for not talking to Sushant Singh Rajput few days before his suicide, over an old grudge. Shedding more light on his comments, Anurag during the promotions of his movie Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat told Hindustan Times how worried he was about Abhay’s health and why he reached out to him so that they could bury the hatchet. He said, “When SSR passed away, three weeks prior to that through Uday Singh Gauri, who was his manager, he (SSR) was trying to reach out. He had ghosted me once long ago, and now he was trying to reach out and I was like ‘I am done with stars’. I do not want to go through an experience again… but when he passed away, it hit me so hard. I was like ‘why could I just not have spoken to him?’ Maybe he genuinely meant it. Talking about how he reached out to all the people he had lost touch with, Anurag said, “I called Abhay, and Abhay was non-responsive, and he was upset. And I said ‘listen, I know you are upset, you want to scream at me, shout at me, do that but tell me you are okay’. I was worried and so concerned and that’s why when I released that because we were not talking to each other, and I had spoken in public, it really hurt him very badly… tera-chaudah saal purani baat pe hum public mein aise baat kar rahe hain jo ki personal mein honi chahiye. So, I apologised to him for speaking in public.”

On the work front, while Anurag Kashyap has been awaiting the release of his upcoming film Almost Pyaar With DJ Mohabbat, Abhay Deol has been raking in positive reviews from all corners for his performance in Trial By Fire.
